How Valor Mortis ends
The final boss is Entity, Voice of the Void, fought in Chapter 11 after entering the misted doorway beyond the distorted Abandoned Church. It takes William’s form and combines rapid spinning sword chains, four-shot pistol bursts, thrown-sword teleports, tendrils, spectral copies, and boss replicas.
Firearms are mostly deflected by its protective bubble until it is actively attacking. Build the fight around melee, parry and dodge windows, and immediate copy control rather than trying to shoot through the barrier.
Final boss plan
- Keep enough distance to read the spinning sword chain, but do not drift so far that the arena limits your dodge.
- Treat the four-shot pistol burst as a separate rhythm from the melee strings.
- Clear spectral copies as soon as they appear; letting them overlap the Entity’s next attack removes your safe windows.
- Punish after committed attacks while the bubble is down, then reset rather than greedily extending the combo.
- Survive the second health bar before interpreting the cutscene. The encounter is not over when the first bar empties.
The boss order places Entity after Captain Raphael and the Chapter 10 Castle sequence.
What the ending shows
After the second health bar is depleted, the Entity collapses. William rips out and crushes its heart, then a tidal wave of blood overwhelms him.
The final cutscene suggests the Crimson Plague has been dealt with and Napoleon faces a court for his experiments and resurrection of the army. A village is shown living in peace beneath a flying hawk, but the hawk is then shown frozen under ice while a new Nephtis army marches toward unknown locations. The sequence closes on a clear sequel hook.
Does Valor Mortis have alternate endings?
The reviewed evidence documents one complete ending sequence. That is not proof that alternate endings do or do not exist. This guide does not claim a choice-based second ending or a secret ending because no source established one.
If you are checking completion requirements, the ending itself is part of the main story. Missing side content, collectibles, and combat trophies can be handled afterward.
After the credits
Completing the story returns you near the final Lantern with free-roam access to previous areas. That makes post-credits cleanup the practical time to finish:
- missed Oathbound Guardsmen and quests;
- remaining Monster Hunt drawings;
- unique Ambers and 99 collectibles;
- combat-specific trophies;
- weapon, firearm, and Transmutation upgrades.
There is no manual save system or New Game+ at launch. Use free roam before starting over if you are pursuing the Platinum. The trophy roadmap turns the post-credits state into a completion checklist.
